Dave Rohwedder is Of Counsel at Litner + Deganian, handling cases both in Atlanta and from his home in Columbus, Georgia. Born in Cedar Falls, Iowa, Dave spent his childhood crisscrossing the country with his family, living in California, Utah, Missouri, Florida, and Wisconsin, before finally settling in Birmingham, Alabama, where he finished high school and attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
After college, Dave initially pursued a career in academia, earning a Master of Bioethics from the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. Deciding academia wasn’t the right path for him, Dave moved back to Birmingham and enrolled in law school at Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law.
In 2009, Dave began practicing law as a defense attorney for insurance companies. Interestingly enough, his first firm was the same one Arman once worked at, though in a different office. Of course, Dave also came to the same conclusion there: He was working on the wrong side of the law. Deciding he wanted to help victims instead, Dave became a plaintiff’s lawyer, eventually representing clients in personal injury, product liability, and wrongful death cases.
In 2016, Dave met Steve through the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association’s Leadership Education & Advanced Direction (LEAD) Program. The two hit it off, and, when Dave reached out to Steve for career advice in 2019, it became clear that Dave’s background and Columbus expertise would be a great fit for the L+D team. “I like that I get to have a personal connection with our clients,” said Dave. “That gives me a greater sense of how I’m helping.”
When he’s not working on clients’ cases, Dave spends time with his wife, Chandler, who’s also a lawyer, and their 4-year-old son (Edward) and 2-year-old daughter (Poppy). Though Dave still plays Magic: The Gathering (yes, he’s publicly admitting that!), there’s another childhood interest that’s really stuck with him. A guitarist since age 12, Dave has a collection of electric guitars, including his prized Flying V, effects pedals, and amplifiers. He also loves listening to his heavy metal mainstays Megadeth, Mastodon, Pantera, and Tool and attending concerts when he can. When he’s unplugged from work and the music scene, Dave loves to get outside and hike or dream up dialogue for a comedy he hopes to write some day.
