Hanan Shifa, an accounting assistant with Litner + Deganian, was born in Ethiopia and moved to the United States in 2007. She graduates this summer from Kennesaw State with a degree in Finance, and she worked previously for a money transfer business.
After the company she worked with was bought out by a larger firm, Hanan decided she was ready for a switch. Litner + Deganian contacted her after coming across her resume. She was interviewed and hired shortly after, joining the team in February 2020. Despite the COVID-19 temporary work changes, Hanan has enjoyed the smaller, friendlier dynamic of the staff and attorneys as she helps the accounting department with processing and closing. She’s also bilingual, speaking both English and Amharic.
When she’s not working, Hanan is heavily involved in the Ethiopian community in Atlanta, lending her accounting skills to local charitable organizations and helping the community thrive. She also looks forward to traveling again. Turkey and Morocco are her favorite destinations, and she hopes to visit London the next chance she gets. Her bucket list destination? Bali—one we can all dream about right now.
