Tamika McFarlane grew up in Bowie, MD—a city about halfway between Washington, D.C., and Annapolis the capital of Maryland. She headed south for college, attending Florida A&M University for both her bachelor’s degree and her graduate studies in criminal justice.
After deciding she wanted a fresh start, she set her sights on Atlanta and began working as a paralegal at a criminal law firm—a childhood dream. An avid fan of law dramas and criminal justice shows, Tamika felt excited about the work.
In 2017, in the middle of an intense job search, she came across an opening at Litner + Deganian. Steve called her back within 10 minutes of seeing her application, and she joined the team shortly after as a case manager. Tamika immediately felt at home with her new colleagues and the passion they brought to their jobs. “Steve and Arman really love their clients and want to see them heal and get the treatment they need,” said Tamika. “It’s not just about collecting pay at this firm.”
When she’s not helping Litner + Deganian clients’ cases run smoothly, you can find Tamika working out, attending church and shopping. She loves visits to Macy’s, HomeGoods and Dillards, but she also likes to find deals online. She’s probably best known, however, for her famous rum cake, which she regularly shares at the office. (In fact, she’s promised rum cakes to a few colleagues who are still patiently waiting, hint hint!)
